Garima Bais 5.0 out of 5 stars Verified Purchase Fascinating and entertaining book Reviewed in India on 24 September 2025 I really enjoyed this book as it’s different from anything I’ve read before. Each chapter starts with a short poem, and the illustrations make the story even more engaging. The mix of history, fiction, and culture brings ancient Greece and Sicily to life in such a vivid way. It’s also perfect for language learners since the writing is clear, rich in vocabulary, and easy to follow. You can read a little at a time or all at once. A fascinating story overall.

AmAc 4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting historical fiction Reviewed in Canada on September 18, 2025 Unique historical fiction story about ancient Greece. Begins with Obelius and his parent's journey from Greece to Sicily to the settlement of their new land from building temples to harvesting olive trees. Includes details of ancient greek life from the food they ate, clothing and footwear, everyday tasks, games and toys to occupations from farmers, stone masons and artisans, as well as, the tools and livestock used. It touches on customs from the communal baths and markets to the struggles they faced with illness, death and conflicts. Interesting details of Obelius's craft creating everything from practical jugs and bowls to hand painted decorative ceramics and the Bummulu. Enjoyed the ancient legends of Greek Gods and sacred ceremonies told throughout.

Learning through tales Reviewed in Germany on 10 September 2025 This book has an interesting approach, presenting a simple tale about setting up an Ancient Greek colony. It's not a story with a plot and twists, and neither one that's artistically written, but rather a collection of everyday events that presents different ancient customs, legends, labours, activities and so on. They are all placed into context through the story, which is nice.

Rachel g 5.0 out of 5 stars Verified PurchaseHistoria corta que deja huellaReviewed in Australia on 5 September 2025Lo disfruté mucho.
